On a day when there was so much sport to watch, 18 members met in Longnor for the 7 mile walk
led by Tony Brereton. It had been quite a misty view from Biddulph Moor but as we approached
the start point it became quite clear and dry.
From Longnor we walked into Crowdicote and had great views of Chrome and Parkhouse. We
continued along fields and bridle paths and reach the Norman motte and bailey Pilsbury Castle,
and then made our way to Sheen Hill. At the top there is a Trig Point but as it is on private
land Tony obtained permission from the land owner for us to make the steep climb to reach it. The
views were quite spectacular. After photos were taken we made our way back down and then after
further walking to our lunch break.
After our break we started our return to the cars, past busy farms making the most of the dry day,
and thankfully contented bulls, after our recent experience !
It had turned into quite a humid day, but a very enjoyable chatty walk, and then time to catch up
with F1, Tennis and Cricket.
