Todays 4 mile walk, led by sandra Greaves, was in the Scholar Green area. 24 member and 2
youngsters met at the Travellers Rest to cross the main road, into Portland Drive and the onto the
Macclesfield Canal towpath. Coming off the canal via Moss Lane we headed through Lawton
woods, where the blackberries had taken over from the Spring bluebells. We passed by Lawton
Hall lake which it is no longer possible to walk around, and then onto the Trent and Mersey canal.
a drinks break was taken here, alongside the busy series of locks, which several narrow boats were
navigating.
From there we moved into fields and more woodland to head back toward the road opposite
Schola Green Village Hall, and the up the hill to the cars. It had turned into quite a warm dry
morning and another lovely walk.
