20251203 Snapes Aqueduct

Geoff Bradshaw led 23 members on Wednesday 3rd December 2025 for a 3.7 mile walk he described as ''nice and easy''. A misty drive over to Snapes Aquaduct in Church Lawton where we parked, soon gave way to blue sky for a pleasant morning without any rain.

Initially we walked down Old Knutsford Rd to pick up the path on the right onto the Trent & Mersey canal towpath, where we walked for a stretch before we left to continue on a path which gave us a view of Lawton Hall, now converted into apartments, before reaching the Summer House Plantation. This was once part of the Lawton Hall Estate and the ancient woodland is surrounded by farmland, and the old park and lake. We continued through Amelia Wood to reach Brick House.

More woodland walking into Bratt's Wood followed and then field paths to return to the cars. Recent heavy rain had caused some areas of soft mud, but nothing too difficult to walk through. A drinks break and a group photo were taken along the way on this enjoyable winter walk.
