The Biddulph Ramblers

Working for Walkers

Glorious sunny weather. Twenty-five started this five-mile walk from Timbersbrook and two caught up with us later on. First, we ambled past the mill-pond and along fields to Dial Lane – up Pines Lane and past the doggie’s playground to Park Head Farm. Here we turned down via tracks and paths, past horses, to get a fantastic view over the surrounding countryside (Group Photo). We continued down the narrow trackway recently cleared of stones by our Path Maintenance Group and fields towards Overton Road. Here we took the track (Knotty Lane) back down to Dial Lane and after a short stretch turned off and headed to Rainow Hill where we had our drinks/food stop. Lovely and sunny with great views, though I had chosen arguably the windiest place possible along this walk.  Down Rainow Hill along the road down towards the canal, looping off along the Biddulph Valley Way, along the canal, over the metal bridge and back up to the cars via the meadows.  Some mud in places but not as bad as last week’s recce offering. Enjoyable.
