The Biddulph Ramblers

Working for Walkers

A grand total of 22 walkers today on this lovely picturesque walk from Rudyard Old Railway Station. We first went to Rudyard Lake, alongside and then over the miniature railway track to ascend in woodland to take various forms of field track over largely unfamiliar territory to Poolend Farm and beyond, after which we walked the road to Abbey Green. From there, more field tracks to Bridge End, involving some crop jungle manoeuvrings. Finally, we went along the Churnet Way before taking the track alongside the southern feeder outflow from Rudyard Lake back into Rudyard. The weather was warm, requiring several hydration breaks, the main one being half way, in the shade with a nice cooling breeze.
