Our first long walk of the Scarborough holiday was a spectacular 9.5 mile circumnavigation of Flamborough Head in ideal sunny and clear conditions led by Brian. 15 members assembled in Flamborough village to walk out across field paths to emerge above the chalk cliffs on the northern flank

There then began a constant unveiling of stunning views as we headed east. Shortly after passing North Landing, we noticed what looked like rocks down below in a sheltered cove until we realised it was a colony of seals numbering up to a hundred resting in the sunshine. A magical sight for sure.

After the lighthouse at the eastern tip, the vistas to the south unfolded and Bridlington gradually came into view. Almost reluctantly, we finally turned inland along Dane’s Dyke, an ancient protective earthwork running all the way across the head, to return to the village
