Our base for a 4 night self-drive holiday in autumn 2027 will be the Cairn Hotel, Harrogate from Monday 11th October to Friday 15th October. Many of you will be familiar with the Cairn, which is a rather grand, spacious Victorian building, close to the town centre and ideally located for beautiful, scenic walks in the Yorkshire Dales. It sits next to the Old Swan Hotel where Agatha Christie was discovered after she vanished in 1926, sparking a massive 11 day national manhunt. Harrogate itself is a famous spa town, renowned for its fabulous shopping. It has a wealth of independent shops, tempting tea rooms and welcoming pubs and bars.

Accommodation is booked on a half board basis – bed, breakfast and evening meal. Total prices for 4 nights are:-

Double/twin - £260 per person

Single - £324 per person

Single rooms are limited in availability so please book early to avoid disappointment. To book a place, you can click on the “Book place” link at the bottom of the email which, if you are on our mailing list, you should have received in October 2026, or will receive soon. This will bring up a booking form. Complete this, stating the number of people, name(s), type of room and any dietary requirements. Then click the “Submit” button ONCE and WAIT. After some seconds delay, your booking will register.

Alternatively, you can book directly from the website by LOGGING IN and then clicking on the event title in the Events box, and then on the “Make a booking” button at the bottom of the page. This will bring up the same booking form.

In case of difficulty or if you prefer to book in the old way, please email the event organiser, Brian McMahon, by clicking on the envelope icon at the top of the event description page and completing the form with details of the number of people, name(s), type of room and any dietary requirements.

A non-refundable £25 deposit per person will be required to secure a booking. When making payment, bank transfer is preferred to the following account:-
